A
life by the sea and a connection with the environment is the
inspiration
behind my art. Each piece arrives through a process of discovery - where ideas
influence design and possibilities are explored as the art
form evolves.
My works reflect an interest in colour, imagery
and the interaction
between spatial elements.
The diversity in style makes each piece personal and unique.
Inspiration for the sculptures has been through working with
the concept of small things made big. The art forms that exist
in nature have always held a fascination with me, especially
microscopic cells, including Protozoa, algae and fungi, and
the marine world in general. The bizarre ‘almost alien’ forms,
intricate shapes and patterns, which exist under the microscope,
and the sea (seaweed, jellyfish etc), sort of suggests another
world within our world – or one which could easily/potentially
exist in another solar system.
