Statement: Eugenia Jenny Williams emigrated to Australia thirty
seven years ago from what is now Slovakia. She is of Hungarian
descent and in her paintings she is often using the motifs and
colours of that culture, signing her paintings with her native
name YENNI. She paints in bright colours with acrylics, texturising
with impasto and gloss and is inspired by movements, moods and
forms as well
as a deeper, symbolic meaning of objects. Jenny is also a writer
and a recipient of two literary grants from Arts Tasmania. Her
first book, an autobiographical novel, YENNI-A Life Between
Worlds was published in 2002 by Pluto Press. Yenni is married
with two adult children, and two grandchildren, she is retired
and spends her time painting and writing.
